The hardest part of moving is actually packing everything up. It can seem never-ending and if you don’t do the packing part correctly, you’ll end up with a mess when you arrive in your new home.
Let’s take a look at some of the packing materials you’ll need in order to pack everything properly.
Packing Tape
You’ll be using plenty of tape in a move, so make sure you buy from us. However, this isn’t the same as the tape you use for taping a couple of pages together. It’s stronger and wider, designed to hold boxes shut and wrap items in bubble wrap. It’s a good idea to splurge a bit and get good quality tape that won’t just let your boxes fly open at the worst moment.
Boxes
First, you’ll need the most common packing material out there, the cardboard box which you can buy from us, so you can easily close them up without the box falling apart.
Paper
Special paper called packing paper is used to wrap up the more fragile items you want to pack. It won’t mark or stain your belongings and can be filler material when crumpled up and pushed into a box that doesn’t have enough to fill it. While some will use newspaper for this purpose, it can leave smudges on your items and hands.
Bubble Wrap
You’ll want to use bubble wrap for the more delicate items that you’re packing. It can be used to protect a mirror, to wrap a vase in, or to protect a figurine, among many other things. Bubble wrap is available in a variety of sizes, so be sure to choose the appropriate size for what you’re wrapping.
Labels
A way to label your boxes is essential, so the movers will know where to put them. You will also be able to find the box with the most essential items quickly.
You can use sticky labels, dots to represent which room the boxes go in, or just write on the tape with black marker.
With the right packing materials, you’ll be ready to handle whatever comes at you. From cutlery to glassware, you have what you need to make sure it’s properly wrapped and packed up. All you need to do now is actually pack everything.
