Moving home should be a very exciting time, but the process of packing up your life and taking it with you can be a little daunting.

Step 1 - Tidy Up

First things first, sort out all your rubbish - that’s something that definitely doesn’t need to come with you! Find all the rubbish that might be lying around the house, like packaging, old magazines and broken items and recycle or dispose of them.

Step 2 - Declutter

Over the years we build up a lot of items that we don’t use, that are simply sitting on our shelves gathering dust. Now is the time to decide which things you really want to bring into your new space and what you’re going to part ways with. Start with the items that are visible before moving on to items in storage.

When deciding whether to keep something or toss it, think to yourself: when was the last time I used it? When might I use it in the future? If the answer is ‘I don’t know’, chances are you aren’t going to miss it, so it’s best to give it away to friends and family or donate it to charity.

Step 3 - Organise

Once you have finished decluttering the room, instead of replacing the items in their original places, we are going to organise the items into rooms and categories.

Step 4 - Pack

Place each pile into separate boxes, labelled with the room of the house and its contents e.g. office, desk supplies. Make sure to take care of fragile items by wrapping them with bubble wrap first.
